A-Blogging We Will Go

Hello, blog-world. I have no idea why I'm starting this at one in the morning, other than I tend to have inopportune timing. A few days ago I was facebook-chatting with one of my best friends, and all of a sudden came out with, "I should start a blog." I have the resources for it (thank you, Blogger), and I've wanted one for a couple years. After all, I like to air my epiphanies, weighty thoughts, make lists, share internet gems, come up with pithy titles... the stuff blogs are made of, indeed. So here I am, having neglected my laundry, Comparative Politics articles, As You Like It performance history research, and most of the stuff on my to-do list, and blogging away.

It will be nice to have a little virtual space of my own. To write, to think, to make pretty... which brings me to... customizing. Ahem. Of course I realize the main point is to write (type? blog?), but I was really excited to decorate my new creation. However, Internet Explorer shut down about three times while I was trying to set this up, so I did not get the orientation treatment. I've seen lovely blogs, complete with quotes and pictures and patterns. I know these things are out there, Blogger, you can't fool me.... But where are they? For heaven's sake, where are the pretty things? My blog wants to be beautified!

Alas, it grows late and I grow tired, so it will have to wait till tomorrow. As will the title, though as I think on it, I might keep it. "Subject to Change" is a rather good name for a blog, isn't it? Maybe I could just add a subtitle to shake things up every now and then... to make it live up to itself.

There are no less than 12 uses of the word "blog" -counting the next- in this post. I don't think there's a synonym.

Goodnight, blog-world!
